One and a half D-Day tour

If you only have a day and a half, this tour is for you.
 The focus will be only on the highlights and quite dense.

On the half day this is what we will see :

First village liberated by US Airborne forces.
Hear about the story of  the paratrooper
who got caught on the church steeple

Hedgerow stop

Explanation of how the hedgerows were
at the time of the landings

Utah beach

Understand the construction of the Altlantic Wall’s bunkers
and why it was a successful landing in part
due to Brigadier General Theodore Roosevelt Jr.

 

The following full day we will see :

Pointe du Hoc

D-DAY’s most dangerous mission where U.S. Rangers
scaled 100 ft. high cliffs

Omaha Beach

Walk on this emotional beach where so many
brave soldiers gave their lives,

(3600 casualties in the first 3 hours)

Visit of US Military Cemetery

9387 graves – 1557  on Wall of the Missing in Action

German Gun Battery in Longues-sur-Mer

We will see the famous gun batteries,
featured in the movie “The Longest Day”
where the cannons are still inside.

Arromanches

Admire a prodigy of mechanical engineering
The articifical harbour (remains) code named
“Mulberries” also known as Port Winston
